The Sollid family had a dream to make a living from the land. So, in 2003, Wayne and Karen purchased an existing saskatoon berry operation near Camrose, Alberta, Canada and began to learn about producing food. They learned about equipment, customers, weather, dirt and hard work. They ate fresh berries and new vegetables and enjoyed country life.

The name 'Sunhill Gardens" came from "Sollid" (pronounced like 'so' and 'lid') which, when loosely translated from Norwegian, means "sun on the hillside".

Sunhill saskatoons have been enjoyed across the prairies in Last Mountain Berry Farms saskatoon jam and pie filling and at restaurants in Edmonton and Camrose.  Sunhill vegetables have been featured on menus at East Side Mario's and the Camrose Regional Exhibition and have been served in many households via the Sunhill Gardens CSA, the Salisbury Farmers Market in Sherwood Park, the Camrose and District Farmers Market, the City Centre Market in Edmonton and the Stoney Creek Natural Foods group in Camrose.

Today, the dream remains: to produce fresh, tasty food for our family and our community in a way that sustains our land and provides meaningful work for our family and staff. Our wonderful customers have made this possible and we value the part that they play in helping us to realize our dream.
